A personal sampler system consisting of a 37 mm filter, a gas absorbent, and a 2 L/min pump was tested and proven effective in collecting polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in underground dieselized mines. The Hi Vol sampler lost PAHs due to a high flow rate through the filter and desorption from the collected particulate. The personal sampler was demonstrated in a number of experiments.
